Majlis e Aza in Lucknow, India
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Al Baqee Organization, Lucknow Chapter, hosted a significant Majlis e Aza at Dargah Hazrat Abbas (as) in Rustam Nagar, Lucknow, to commemorate the destruction of Jannat Al Baqee. This cemetery in Medina, Saudi Arabia, holds profound historical and religious importance for Muslims, particularly Shia Muslims, as it is the resting place of many of Prophet Muhammad’s (sawws) grandsons, relatives, and companions. Its demolition in 1925 by Saudi authorities remains a source of deep sorrow and a rallying point for remembrance and advocacy within the entire Muslim community.
The Majlis e Aza began with Nazeer Baqri Sahab serving as the Nazim to coordinate the proceedings. The event was addressed by Moulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi, a prominent Shia cleric and scholar from Lucknow, known for his eloquent speeches and leadership.
